This section has a rich collection of traditional and contemporary textiles from around Indonesia, such as tenun gendong (backstrap loom), songket and tapis (cloths woven with gold/silver threads), and a variety of batiks with different styles and motifs from cities like Yogyakarta, Solo, Cirebon, Pekalongan, Lasem and Madura. This is an effort to support the preservation of Indonesias traditional batik and weaving industry. There are also contemporary batiks such as Batik Limaran and Parang Kencana that show intricate jacquard weaving techniques and texture embellished with beautiful contemporary batik motifs.
